Great breakdown. I like the point that Uber is no longer just a ride-hailing app, but a larger consumer infrastructure platform across mobility, delivery, ads, subscriptions, and eventually autonomous vehicles. The AV partnership angle is especially interesting because it changes the common view that autonomy will only hurt Uber. #On the weekend, I drive some time Uber, so I know the pain.
Honestly sometime I think I should make a local app for people where not only the customer get their ride and comfort but the driver should too get paid well!
A conversation with one who works at UP. Current train crew across all class 1 use RCX, in an order to cut costs they are scaling back and moving to uber as a means to transport crews. Weather this will be long term no one knows.
Sorry didn’t reply my first comment still figuring out how to use Substack..and also if the railroads are still the economic bloodline of America these UP guys say they are really slow right now.
That's totally fine. I'm also relatively new to the Substack world. Sounds like another positive headwind for Uber and a much bigger story that would be interesting to tackle.

Thank you for the kind comment. I definitely think rethinking the way we view uber is crucial.
And best of luck with driving :)

FYI two class one railroads will be using Uber to transport their workers.

Interesting, where did you see that?
